    If an attractive woman is watching, a young man is more likely
    to make reckless decisions that can cause him to hurt himself,
    according to a new study. The study, conducted at University of
    Queensland, in Australia, found that male skateboarders were more
    apt to attempt risky tricks in the presence of a good-looking
    woman. The risks resulted in more successful completions of the
    trick, as well as more crash landings.

    Southern Polytechnic State University wants to be known as a
    place for aspiring engineers.

    And what better test of engineering prowess than to take a
    200-pound cast-iron bathtub, put wheels and brakes on it, and see
    how fast it'll go?

    The Marietta, Ga., university has revived the Southern
    Polytechnic Bathtub Races after a 20-year break. The races

  • Agnes Scott's 2010 Writers’ Festival, March 25-26, will include Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Scott Russell Sanders, poet Paul Guest and Agnes Scott alumna and fiction writer Sarah Scoles ’07.
  • Larry H. Riddle, professor of mathematics at Agnes Scott College, will deliver this year’s Joseph R. Gladden Jr. Public Lecture. The lecture, “Pioneering Women in Mathematics,” is March 18 at 5 p.m. in the Dana Fine Arts Building, Winter Theatre.
